PAST EVENTS

We love great parties with sexy costumes and colorful decorations. Click the headings to enjoy our pictures!

Phat Party—BP Weekend 2003
Heyy-ho! They say your threads reflect your attitude and certainly the attitude at our Phat Party last weekend was most funkdafied. Going for an Urban, hip-hop flavor, the staff looked like ghetto superstars with their bling bling and street heat. Spin master Carlos Pedraza threw on some fat beats, old skool house, and hip-hop the likes of Mary J. and the Beastie Boys...later crowd mover, Demarko the DJ pumped out the perkin’ music (that's house) and funky-fresh. Customers including plenty of cock diesels (big and muscular hotties) got loaded on the Alizé Wild Margos being served-up at the bar. Incidentally, the spirit’s bright orange color looked phat against the graffiti writing on the walls. Peace-out until the re-do.

Cupid’s in the House—Valentines 2003
Whether interested in romance or a little mischief, g lounge was the place to be this Valentines. Just for kicks, Gillette MontBlanc strapped on a pair of wings and spread passion with Cupid's bow while our salacious staff served up intoxicating tonics and potions including our decadent Chocolate Martini. As if that weren't enough, the adorable and sexy resident DJs Angelos and DeMarko cast a musical spell and our friend–singer/songwriter Julien–gave a special heart-felt, guest performance. Michael Kay-McGrail outdid himself in creating the beautiful heart-shaped pillows and flowers. Thanks also to John Demous for creating the lovable lighting scheme.

g POP—New Year's Eve
Our New Year’s Eve party sported a POP theme in celebration of pop culture and the trendy champagne POP by Pommery. The sexy, shirtless bartenders served up lots of these personal-sized, sapphire-blue bottles of champagne. Picking up the color, the bar was decorated with blue balloons, snowflakes, and garland. Guests included the usual blend of Chelsea boys, New York hipsters, tourists and regular folks who enjoyed a complimentary champagne toast at midnight to bring in the new year. The fabu DJ Uri kept the party going until 4am with pop tunes from past to present.

Make Your Yuletide Gay!—Christmas 2002
We’ve come to enjoy decorating the lounge in colorful delights and this Holiday Season was no different. Garlands and wreaths wrapped with purple lights and silver ribbons graced our walls while snowflakes sparkled in pink light over the bar. The fabulous Gillette MontBlanc–who dressed herself in a pink poinsettia bustier–dressed the adorable bartenders in tight white hip-huggers and white Santa hats. During the season, customers couldn’t get enough of our Merry Martini–a smooth, white chocolate treat with a touch of peppermint served in a gift wrapped martini glass.

There's no place like g—Halloween 2002
We sure had a great time this past Halloween, thanks to our customer’s great energy and their fabulous costumes. Christopher Tulysewski took home the $300 grand prize as the scariest Kansan ever known, Mrs. Gultch. Second prize went to Corey Spears & Dan Renci who pulled off an amazing feat of illusion–Mrs. Lowenstein carrying her dog Pucci. Lawrence Patti returned to the winner circle again this year as another tasty treat, Twinkie the Kid (you may remember him as last year’s Birthday Cake Surprise). The fabulous and lovely Gillette MontBlanc hosted the evening as Dorothy–with her own flying Monkeys.

As usual, we gussied up the lounge for the festivities with our own rendition of the Yellow Brick Road leading from the street. Customers skipped along to the bar where they were greeted and served Poppy Punch by our hunky bartender Tin-men. Above the bar was a beautiful poppy field and the glistening Emerald City itself.

The Pool Party—Labor Day event
Marking the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day weekend conjures up childhood memories of summer picnics, pool parties, and neighborhood boys. Gaying it up a bit, we threw own pool party around the decks of a 3 foot pool where neighborhood boys splashed around. Keeping the horseplay at bay, the on duty Lifeguard known as J, drew a crowd every time he climbed down the lifeguard stand. While taking a break from the pool, customers sporting speedos enjoyed frosty frozen cocktails at the cabana bar on the house.

The Aloha Lounge—Gay Pride Weekend
In a spectacular display of Pride spirit, our ALOHA lounge welcomed the proud and prideful to our New York “island paradise.” Kicking off the weekend was our ALOHA BOYS! party Thursday night where newcomers were greeted with a friendly “aloha” while being adorned with leis. Packed all weekend long, customers enjoyed the festive Hawaiian theme, the cute and friendly crowd, and our top-shelf cocktails.

Pride Luau—Gay Pride Weekend
Topping off the weekend celebration on Sunday was our special Pride Luau created by Mark Lander and Devin Delano. Sporting sarongs, leis, and dark tans, our hunky bar staff appeared to have just returned from their own tropical vacation. Even the bar—with it’s thatched roof, festive lights, and tropical flowers by Michael Kay-McGrail—looked like it belonged on a moonlit beach. Adding to the sensation, the bar served tasty tropical treats like the Colada 151, Wild Margo, and the MAN-SIZED Margarita. Meanwhile, the adventuresome visited our Witch Doctor for a little tribal wisdom while others had sacrificial virgins at the juice bar. DJs Carlos Pedraza, John LePage, and Uri turned out the tunes for this Gay Pride Celebration.

The Garden Party—Gay Pride Weekend
Kicking off Gay Pride week, The LGBT Center’s Annual Garden Party, features savories, booze, and entertainment from community sponsors. Once again, we were a proud supporter, serving healthy treats from our famous Fresh Juice Bar.

Flashback—May event
With so much polyester in sight, it appeared for a moment that we were in the East Village. The fabulous Gillette MontBlanc worked the room as a most gracious host and the bartenders turned it out as The Solid Gold Dancers. Derrick flirted with customers as Farrah Fawcett, Achilles rocked the room as Gene Simmons, and Mark Lander grabbed, um, attention as only Dirk Diggler could. And with DJ Brenda Black spinning all styles of music from the last three decades, this night sure took us back. Things really got "HOG" wild for one lucky patron, Mylik, who won a chance to ride Marcello (on his Harley, of course). Suddenly the 80s didn't seem so bad, after all.

Extreme g—Black Party Weekend
In the spirit of AlegriaXtreme, Derrick Little dressed our bar staff in pseudo-military attire, sans shirts. Even Megan went shirtless and described the experience as "liberating." DJs Demarko and John LePage provided the party atmosphere. Afterwards, the g-crew trekked over to Ric Sena's Alegria party for some extreme fun.

Pillow Talk—Valentine's Day 2002
When g gets to lounging around, we really get comfortable. On Valentine's Day with our back lounge transformed into a cozy bedroom, customers sipped cocktails in bed. As in the Doris Day and Rock Hudson movie, Pillow Talk, bachelors and ladies could make pillow talk with each other or with lounging members of our g-crew. The red satin bed covered in vibrant pillows (by Micheal John Kay) made a great backdrop for the digital photos Mark Lander snapped of customers.

Trick or Treat—Halloween 2001
Our Halloween the masquerade party was drag-hosted by hunky bartenders decked out as glam rockers. Check out those legs! Megan worked the crowd as costume contest mistress of ceremonies. Cash prizes were awarded to a bubble butt boasting Wonder Woman; a birthday cake surprise (yes, that cutie was in his birthday suit); and the top prize went to Gillette MontBlanc as the P.S.69 beaming school bus.
